I am a painter from Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, born in 1956. Art has been a huge part of my everyday life since the early 90’s. Since that time I have attended the Arts Program at Nipissing University as a part time student, along with innumerable art workshops and seminars with well established Canadian and International artists. I have worked with many mediums including calligraphy, book binding, watercolor, alcohol inks, and acrylics. My favorite is by far acrylics. Once you get used to its fast drying quality and consistency it is a charm to work with. It almost takes on a life of its own.
I am mesmerized by the Northern Ontario landscape. I paint mostly the rugged landscape and animal subjects with acrylics on wrapped canvasses. I like to paint a simplified form with vivid colors and textures. I am proud to be a Canadian and to live in such an exceptional environment. I gather strength from the windswept pines, with their reach extending upwards to the sky. Their unprotected form teaches us to stand tall in the face of adversity and to thrive in any environment.
